Very good size and the backcourt was upgraded with the addition of the very quick Brandon Waiters.
NEWARK CENTRAL
6-foot-8 Senior post Ramon Johnson can score in the low post or out to 17 feet.
Backcourt
Central can play a three guard attack with University transfer, junior Brandon Waiters running the point, Sr. Daquan Jones playing the two and 6-foot-3 Sr. Pat Cole-Brinson handling and shooting. Cole-Brinson is versatile and can facilitate the offense with his ability to see the floor.
Frontcourt
6-foot-8 Ramon Johnson and 6-foot-5 Sr. Kameen McPleasant provide a formidable inside tandem. They have the size strength and ability to score from inside or facing the basket. They are both ranked among NJ Hoops Top 80 seniors.
Bench
Central has some good young prospects that will get some opportunities for minutes.
Coaching
Coach Shawn McCray has run youth programs in the city for years, has done a terrific job of turning around the Central program. This season should be his best season yet.
Season Prediction
Central has the size and talent to win Group 2 if they can get past Lakewood.
