St. Bens Falls in Final

The Scarlet Shootout this weekend at Rutgers University featured 28 high school teams from around the east. After two days of competitive action two teams advanced to the championship contest.
In the championship held late Sunday afternoon St. Benedict's fell to Diamond State Academy from Delaware 58-55 in overtime.

Amir Stanford paced the winners with 15 points and a pair of three's. 6-foot-2 Jr. Steve Bush had 13 points and 3 treys for St. Benedict's.
St. Benedict's played without most of their stars and featured a team of mostly freshman and 8th graders along with a pair of players headed to the Newark school to play on their postgrad team.
They were without stars Tyler Ennis, Isiah Briscoe, Isiah Watkins and Denzel Taylor among others.
