NJ Gets Split at Mercer Tournament

NJ teams garnered a split at the season opening (for some teams) Mercer County College Invitational Saturday afternoon in West Windsor.
In the first game the Community College of Philadelphia held off Burlington CC 83-76 as 6-foot-3 So. Corey Bethea scored 27 points. He had 15 in the opening half and buried 3 treys. Burlington cut the deficit to 78-76 with :22 remaining on two free throws from 6-foot-7 Fr. Rodney Blount.

6-foot-1 Fr. Shane McLendon from Rancocas Valley paced Burlington with 17 points and 4 assists.
The home team, Mercer County College handed the Community College of Rhode Island a 69-55 setback in the second game. 6-foot-4 So. Uros Kovacevic buried 5 treys and scored 18 points for the winners. He added 5 assists.
6-foot-1 So. Pat Sturdahl led CCRI with 15 points, 13 after intermission.
