NJ College Post-Season Tournaments (Updated)
The league tournaments for the NJ D-1 schools begin this week in the Atlantic Sun and Northeast Conference. The MAAC, Big East and Big 10 tournaments are a week away. The Ivy League does not have a post-season tournament. Post-season play for the NJ colleges opened last week with the NJAC and other Division 3 leagues. The NJ league with the NJ D-2's the CACC also began playoff action. This will be updated frequently as new information is available.
DIVISION 1
ATLANTIC SUN TOURNAMENT
In their first year in the league, NJIT received the 2nd seed but were upset by Stetson Tuesday night in the quarterfinals.
NORTHEAST CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
FDU got the second seed. FDU held off St. Francis PA 74-72 in the quarterfinals Wednesday. In the semifinals Saturday March 5 FDU topped Mt. St. Mary's 2:00 80-75. They advance to the championship will be Tuesday March 8 at Wagner at 7:00.
MAAC TOURNAMENT
Tournament action in Albany got started on Thursday March 3. Monmouth clinched the #1 seed and they opened play on Friday beating Rider 59-48. Rider had edged Quinnipiac 60-57 in the first round Thursday as 6-foot-4 Jr. Jimmie Taylor tallied 18. St. Peter's lost to Fairfield 64-55 in the quarterfinals. Monmouth topped Fairfield Sunday 76-63 in the semis on Sunday. Monmouth lost to Iona in the championship and will be nervously awaiting a possible at large bid to the tournament.
BIG 10 TOURNAMENT
Rutgers will most likely get the last seed and play on Wednesday March 9. Action tips off at Bankers Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
BIG EAST TOURNAMENT
Seton Hall has positioned itself as the likely 3 seed. Action begins on Wednesday March 9 in Madison Square Garden with seeds 7-10 competing. SHU begins play on Thursday March 10 at 9:30 against the 6 seed, Creighton. With a win the Pirates would play in the semis Friday night against the Xavier/Marquette/St. John's winner.
IVY LEAGUE
The Ivy League does not have a post-season tournament. Princeton suffered a devastating 73-71 loss to Harvard Friday putting them a game and a half behind Yale. With Yale's win on Saturday night the Tigers were eliminated from the Ivy League.
DIVISION 2
The CACC Tournament has reached the semifinals and Bloomfield is the lone NJ team still in action. Tournament play moves to Dominican College this weekend. Bloomfield lost to Philly U 77-67.
DIVISION 3
Richard Stockton won the NJAC Tournament and got the automatic bid. The Ospreys were edged by Keene State 72-71 in overtime. The regular season champ New Jersey City University was surprisingly denied an at large bid.

Brookdale lost a heartbreaker in the regional final
DIVISION 2
Semifinal action got under way Friday at the County College of Morris. 3rd seeded Raritan Valley lost to Manor 87-73. Top seeded Essex outscored Lackawanna 96-78. Essex edged Manor for the Region 19 championship and heads to the national tournament in Danville IL March 15-19 .
