New Years Jump Off Results

The six game slate for the New Year's Jump Off sponsored by the Playaz Basketball Club included 6 of NJ Hoops top 20 teams.
In the opener Lakewood topped Hackensack 58-54 in overtime. 6-foot-5 Jr. Tony Walker paced the winners with 19 points. 5-foot-10 Jr. Alex George buried 7 treys and had 21 points for Hackensack. 6-foot-5 Jr. Terik Bridgeman added 18 and 8 rebounds for Hackensack.

In the second game Seton Hall Prep topped High Tech. 6-foot-5 Sr. John Caprio was MVP for the Pirates with 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists. 6-foot-2 Jr. Xavier Corporan led High Tech with 15 points and 3 treys.
In the third game Englewood got past a young Hudson Catholic team 70-62. 6-foot-4 high scoring wing Zach Anderson paced the winners with 25. 5-foot-9 Fr. Travis Flagg was high for Hudson Catholic with 18.
In the fourth game, in front of a capacity crowd Plainfield edged Don Bosco 61-58. 6-foot-2 Jr. Tyrone Johnson hit the game winner with :09 left on a tough drive. He added 2 free throws with :04 left. He finished with 26 points. 6-foot-5 Jr. Vaughn Gray had 23 for Bosco.
St. Anthony's jumped out early, up 21-4 after one quarter, and 38-19 at the half. They cruised to a 59-45 win. 6-foot-7 Richmond bound Sr. Derrick Williams dominated inside with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Williams had 6 points and 9 boards in the opening quarter. 5-foot-8 Jr. DeQuan Russ topped Teaneck with 10 points off the bench.
In the finale, after one quarter 5th ranked St. Peter's Prep led 2nd ranked Paterson Catholic 17-15 in an exciting contest.
After a half of rim rattling slams and three's Paterson Catholic was on top 36-32. 6-foot-6 Seton Hall bound Fuquan Edwin led PC with 15. 6-foot-2 Jr. Myles Davis had 12 for St. Peter's.
After three quarters St. Peter's had regained the lead 47-44. 6-foot-7 St. John's bound Sr. Ron Roberts had 16 points and 14 rebounds for St. Peter's.
PC is up 59-51 with 5:06 left as Edwin is hot. PC pulling away, up 65-51 with 3:30 left.
PC came out on top 75-55. Edwin finished with 25 and 4 treys. 5-foot-9 Jr. Myles Mack added 23. Roberts ended with 21 and 15 boards.
