Neptune holds off Newark Eastside
In the Tournament of Champions semifinal tonight at the Rutgers Athletic Center in Piscataway, Neptune held off Newark Eastside 71 - 63. Neptune was pretty much in control throughout, up 19 - 14 after one, 35 - 30 at the half, and 54 - 42 after three. Neptune held off a valiant late run by Eastside and Randy Foye who scored 13 points in the final quarter. 6'2" Jr. Marques Alston paced the balance Neptune attack with 18 points, 13 rebounds. The remaining Neptune starters, 6'3" Sr. Taquan Dean, 6'6" Sr. Robert Layton, 6'2" Jr. Eugene Harris and 6'0" Sr. Terrence Todd all scored 13 points. Neptune outrebounded Eastside 53 - 36.

Foye paced Eastside with 30 points. Randy was 7 for 18 from three. 6'3" Jr. Dave McSwaim added 16, and 6'0" Sr. Pierre Mitchell had 10.
Eastside made only 24 of 77 from the floor, and 6 of 15 from the foul line. Neptune advances to play the winner of St. Anthony's - Bergen Catholic.
