Husky Classic Results

On the day after Christmas we headed over to Matawan for four games in the Husky Classic. The field included a nice mix of teams including top 30 teams Linden and Columbia.
In the first game Linden ran past Academy Charter 81-12. 6-foot-8 Jr. Quadri Moore led the winners with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Moore had 12 and 8 in the first quarter as the Tigers jumped out 35-6 after one period. 6-foot-1 Jr. Steve Laborde had 9 on 3 3's for Academy Charter.
In the second contest, up 26-22 at the half, Old Bridge pulled away with a 18-4 third quarter to beat Howell 59-37. 6-foot Jr. Tyler Drews and 6-foot-6 East Stroudsburg bound Sr. Sultan Aminu divided 33 points for the winners. 5-foot-10 Sr. Luke Sorge and 6-foot-1 So. Aaron Trimble split 18 for Howell.
In the third game Columbia topped St. John Vianney 64-41. 6-foot-2 So. Mike Runcie had 20 points in the first three quarters for the winners. Sr. Steve Callari and So. John Broderick split 16 points for SJV.
In the final game of the day in a tight contest Manalapan edged Matawan 56-50. 6-foot-2 Harvard bound football/basketball star Anthony Firkser and 6-foot-3 Sr. Dennis Girolomo split 32 points. 6-foot So. Jason Dunne buried 5 treys and notched 26 for Matawan.
