Holiday Hoops for Troops Results

On Wednesday we drove up to Roselle Catholic for the first night of the Holiday Hoops for Troops event. One of the highlights of the event is the return to NJ of former St. Pat's Coach Kevin Boyle. He brought his nationally ranked Montverde Academy team from Florida up for the last game each night. The first night card included three boys games.
In the first game Plainfield shut down Rumson 60-34. Plainfield jumped out 31-5 at halftime and was never headed. 6-foot-1 Jr. Christian Cook scored 19 points off the bench for the Cardinals. 6-foot-5 Jr. Jack Herrman had 8 for Rumson.
In the second game the Patrick School took care of Newark Eastside 53-44. Eastside made a late run to make it the final score interesting. They trailed 43-24 after three quarters. 6-foot-6 St. Joseph's bound Sr. DeAndre Bembry and 6-foot-8 Sr. Jason Boswell divided 26. 6-foot So. Akbar Hoffman had 11 for Eastside, 8 in the fourth quarter.
In the last game Montverde Academy lived up to the hype, running past St. Peter's Prep 89-62. 6-foot-8 Sr. Devin Williams tallied 17 for the winners. 6-foot St. Peter's bound Sr. Trevis Wyche scored 23 for the Prep.
