Callaway Inks Deal

LIVERPOOL, England - Former University of Tampa men's basketball standout Rashad Callaway has signed a professional contract to play for the Mersey Tigers of the British Basketball League (BBL).
The club is based out of Merseyside, which is located in Liverpool. Callaway will play for Tony Walsh, as the first-year head coach announced Callaway as his first signing as coach of the Tigers.

Training will begin on Sept. 1, as the team's first game is scheduled for Sept. 22. Fans may follow Callaway and the Tigers through merseytigers.com, or bbl.org.uk.
Callaway, a guard from Bayonne, N.J., starred for head coach Richard Schmidt from 2007-11 as he started all 114 games as a Spartan.
He is still ranked in the program's top-10 in minutes played (1st, 34.4), 3-point field goals made (2nd, 236), free throws made (2nd, 548), assists (2nd, 590), assists average (2nd, 5.2), steals (4th, 203), minutes (4th, 3,916), points (5th, 1,992), steals average (6th, 1.8), games started (7th, 114), field goals made (8th, 604), scoring average (9th, 17.5) and 3-point field goal percentage (10th, .346).
A two-time All-American (2010, 2011), Callaway was named to the all-South Region team three times and was a three-time first-team all-Sunshine State Conference selection. He was also named to the 2008 SSC all-freshman team.
Callaway was ranked 94th in the Class of 2007 by NJ Hoops.
