Middlesex County Tourney Wrap/All Tournament Team

31 teams were entered in this annual event.


It would be a huge surprise if the state's top team St. Joseph's Metuchen was upset in their county tournament.


Games began Saturday February 15, 2014

24th seeded South Amboy beat 25th seeded South River 68-63. 6-foot-4 Sr. Joe FrunchilloArt Flaherty going for 28. 21st seeded Piscataway Tech stopped 28th seeded Wardlaw 68-46. 5-foot-10 Jr. Kyle Wider notched 16. 18th seeded Piscataway doubled up 31st seeded East Brunswick Tech 61-27. 6-foot-3 Jr. Asiah Avent scored 9. 23rd seeded Cardinal McCarrick edged 26th seeded Dunellen 59-56. 5-foot-10 Fr. Barry Brown was high with 25. 19th seeded Middlesex upended 30th seeded Highland Park 80-29. 6-foot-5 Sr. Jarrett Bogus went for 26. 22nd seeded South Plainfield thwarted 27th seeded Perth Amboy Tech 47-37. 6-foot-3 Sr. Chris Mathis tallied 19.


Games were held Tuesday February 18, 2014

17th seeded Old Bridge handled 16th seeded JP Stevens 49-37. 6-foot Sr. Tyler Drews and 6-foot Jr. Connor Romano divided 28. South Amboy surprised 9th seeded Monroe 45-41. 5-foot-9 Sr. Tim Kales notched 17. 12th seeded Carteret cut down Piscataway Tech 64-49 as 6-foot-1 Jr. Brandon Gilder scored 25. 13th seeded Bishop Ahr overcame Metuchen 64-53 as 6-foot-3 Jr. Tom Weiler went for 20. 14th seeded Edison handled Middlesex 53-48. 6-foot-3 Sr. Travon Washington hit for 21. 11th seeded Woodbridge eliminated South Plainfield 64-55. 6-foot-2 Fr. Quassim Glover notched 14. 10th seeded Spotswood dropped Cardinal McCarrick 69-54 as 6-foot Sr. Jake Dadika went for 25. Piscataway upset 15th seeded Perth Amboy 65-56. 5-foot-11 Sr. Najee Lucky led with 17.

Top seeded St. Joseph's Metuchen ran past Old Bridge 99-48. 7-foot Kentucky bound Sr. Karl Towns went for 31. South Amboy edged 8th seeded Timothy Christian 54-52. 6-foot-4 Sr. Joe Frunchillo scored 17. 5th seeded Colonia trimmed Carteret 38-37. 5-foot-11 Jr. James Corbett tallied 11. 4th seeded North Brunswick beat Bishop Ahr 57-49 as 6-foot-4 Jr. LJ Williams went for 30. 3rd seeded Sayreville ousted Edison 71-57. 5-foot-9 Sr. Corey Taite and 6-foot Sr. Robert Seraji both scored 21. Woodbridge trimmed 6th seeded Kennedy Iselin 49-47. 6-foot-1 Jr. Zahneer Shuler. Dadika exploded for 28 as Spotswood topped 7th seeded South Brunswick 56-43. 2nd seeded East Brunswick beat Piscataway 57-39 as 6-foot-4 Princeton bound Sr. Amir Bell banged in 17.


The highly anticipated Elite 8 games were held Sunday February 23, 2014 at Middlesex County College

Sayreville ran past Woodbridge 64-48. Taite hit for 21 with 3 treys. 6-foot-2 Fr. Quasim Glover and 5-foot-9 Fr. Keshaun Henry divided 24 for Woodbridge. East Brunswick held off Spotswood 59-50. 6-foot Sr. Carl Taylor led the balanced attack with 14. Bell added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Dadika paced Spotswood with 24 points, 13 in the final quarter. Colonia outscored North Brunswick 26-13 in the final quarter for a 53-46 victory. 5-foot-11 So. Chase Barneys led with 18. 6-foot-4 Jr. Joe Castellanos notched 9 for North Brunswick. St. Joseph's Metuchen ran past South Amboy 77-38. 6-foot-3 Sr. Marques Townes scored 19 with 3 treys.


The semifinals were held Tuesday February 25, 2014 at South Brunswick HS.

East Brunswick held off Sayreville 62-55. Bell went for 24 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. St. Joseph's Metuchen clipped Colonia 73-49. Townes and 6-foot-3 Vanderbilt bound Sr. Wade Baldwin split 30 points. 5-foot-11 Jr. James Corbett led Colonia with 14.


The championship game was held Thursday February 27 at Rutgers.

St. Joseph's Metuchen beat East Brunswick 59-45 with Townes scoring 22. Bell rang for 21 for East Brunswick.
