NJ Hoops Independent Team Rankings/Results

Action for the NJ Independent schools has past the half way point in the season. We will update the rankings and results every few days. The top Independent team also gets consideration for the NJ Hoops Supers Six every Friday which puts all the schools in the state together for a true picture of the top teams regardless of association.


1. LIFE CENTER 20-5
Lost to Riverdale Baptist 71-54. Outscored 72-23. Topped Academy New Church PA 59-47 as 6-foot-3 Jr. Ned Ogomesim (NJ Hoops #43 Class of 2015) led the balanced attack with 13. Edged by St. James MD 66-65. Thwarted Hun 52-43. 6-foot-4 Jr. Malik Ellison and 6-foot Jr. Traci Carter divided 22 points. Edged by National Christian MD 58-56. Ran past Newark DE 75-40. Ellison scored 17 in a 55-44 win over Quality Education NC. Carter went for 33 in a 88-85 ot win over Patrick School. Beat Lawrenceville 59-40. 7-foot-1 Maryland bound Sr. Trayvon Reed went for 15 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks. Thwarted Academy of the New Church 72-57. Ellison had 13. Fell to Westtown PA 71-61 despite 22 from Ellison. Edged by Imhotep Charter PA 65-63. Ellison scored 23. Trimmed National Christian MD 55-54. Doubled up Girard PA 88-39. 5-foot-10 Sr. Rip Engel had 19 with 5 treys. Edged Our Saviour New American 66-65 with Reed registering 18 points and 12 rebounds. Trimmed Capital Christian MD 68-65. Reed finished with 19 and 15. Ran past Solebury 74-28. 6-foot-7 So. Malcolm Evans had 10. Doubled up Gospel of Grace Christian 93-48. Engel went for 26 with 6 treys. Beat Pope John 67-50. Ellison had 18. Beat St. Andrew's DE 54-40. Handled Atlantic Christian 63-53. Beat Pitman 62-48 as Ellison scored 21. Edged Paul VI 50-47. Engel scored 15.




2. ST. BENEDICT'S 21-8
Opened the season with a 84-52 victory over Rise Academy. 6-foot-5 Jr. Eli Cain led four players in double figures with 16 points. Beat Academy New Church PA 80-44. Cain had 20 points as the Grey Bees Rolled past Trent International TX 106-60. Edged by Milford Mill Academy MD 66-64 despite 19 from 6-foot-4 Jr. Kamar McKnight (NJ Hoops #28 Class of 2015). Shut down Hun 57-30. McKnight and 6-foot-0 VCU bound Sr. Jonathan Williams (NJ Hoops #10 Class of 2014) divided 26. Ran past Malvern Prep PA 98-42. Williams and 6-foot-2 Fr. Trevon Duval divided 34. McKnight tallied 18 in an 83-52 win over Nia Prep. In the Puerto Rico Hoops Tip-Off beat Santa Maria 78-42 as Williams went for 18. Thwarted Bayamon Military 78-43 with McKnight hitting for 23. Lost in the championship 75-65. Williams and 6-foot-2 Fr. Trevon Duvall both dropped in 14. Topped Trenton Catholic 69-53 as Duval dropped in 16. Registered a 112-50 victory over Irvington's Jersey Elite. Cain led five scorers in double figures with 22 points. Thwarted Brookfield WI 58-52 as Cain notched 19 points and 9 rebounds. Ran past Nia Prep 105-28 while McKnight scored 24. Lost 64-54 to Arlington Country Day FL. Cain contributed 19. Fell to Peddie 66-62. Beat Whitehaven TN 54-41 with Cain scoring 18. Upended Simeon Career Academy IL 59-48. Cain scored 17. Beat Blair 57-48 as Cain notched 24. Overcame Roselle Catholic 64-58. Williams had 11. Lost to Benedictine Prep VA 6-foot-8 So. Arnaldo Toro notched 20. Trimmed Pope John 58-56 as Williams went for 17. Lost to St. Peter's Prep 75-61 despite 22 from Cain. Handled Lawrenceville 76-54 with Duval dropping in 18. Ran past Hunterdon Central 88-48. Toro had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Lost to Blair 77-65 in the NJ Prep A championship game despite 21 from McKnight. Thwarted Trenton Catholic 59-40. Cain canned 16. Duval scored 26 in a 85-74 win over Pioneer Science Academy.




3. PENNINGTON 19-3
Outscored Germantown Academy PA 81-69 as 6-foot-3 Sr. Kaison Randolph (NJ Hoops #29 Class of 2014) went for 23 on 9-15 shooting. Shut down Katzenbach MD 68-16. Randolph had 14. Thwarted Princeton Day 65-46 with Randolph scoring 21. Edged by Lawrenceville 63-61. Randolph and 6-foot-2 Jr. Isaiah Taylor (NJ Hoops #111 - Class of 2015) split 43. Randolph had 20 in a 79-61 win over Perkioman PA. Taylor tallied 21 in a 57-50 win over Academy New Church PA. Randolph had 26 and 15 in a 67-38 win over Hopewell Valley. Randolph hit for 33 in a 74-60 win over Lawrence. Thwarted Rutgers Prep 55-48. Randolph had 19. Handled Friends Central PA 58-42 as Randolph notched 20. Outscored by Peddie 95-82 despite 25 from Randolph. Shut down Chestnut Hill PA 67-37. Randolph tallied 23. Thwarted Rutgers Prep 55-41 as Randolph notched 20. Trimmed Lenape 59-57. Randolph hit for 21. Overcame South Brunswick 62-49. Randolph tallied 27 points and 12 rebounds. Beat Princeton Day 72-59. Randolph exploded for 41. Doubled up Steinert 80-47 while Randolph hit for 29. Ousted Rutgers Prep 76-54 as Randolph scored 27. Topped Hopewell Valley 62-47 as Randolph had 21 points and 18 rebounds. Held off Montclair Kimberly 67-60 for the NJ Prep B championship. 6-foot-3 Jr. Elijah Wright went for 24. Trimmed West Windsor South 63-61 as Randolph registered 20. Lost to Ewing 76-68 despite 23 from Randolph.
