Committed Seniors Give Thanks

Each year there are plenty of NJ Hoopers that commit to Division 1 colleges. These young student athletes have much to be thankful for. NJ Hoops does extensive interviews with these players about their college decision. In honor of thanksgiving we look back at see who the players wanted to thank.

One of the questions is: "There must have been some people along the way that helped you out in getting you the scholarship. Are there any people you want to thank?"

We thought this was a good day to look back on those thoughts and who they wanted to extend their gratitude to:

Austin White St. Peter's Prep to High Point, "Obviously my parents for helping me all the time. Coach Decker. I wouldn't have done it without him. And my AAU coaches as well."

Leroy Butts Clinton Christian MD early decision to Rutgers, "All my coaches, of course my family and God."

Jamar Redmond Robinson School to Morgan State, "I would like to thank Coach Les James. He was the first coach I ever had and has been with me since. Coach Smith at Roselle also."

Louie Pillari CBA to Navy, "Coach Geoff Billett from CBA and Coach Mike Cervillono, my AAU Coach this year with the Cyclones. He was a huge part."

Terrill Bagley Robinson School to FDU, "Coach Robinson, my family, fan and supporters, my AAU coaches. Most of all my family."

Dominique Uhl Point Pleasant Beach to Iowa, "My mom. She's always there for me no matter what. All the people in Point beach. Coach Sagona with the Jersey Shore Warriors and of course Coach Nick Catania, my high school coach. Without him I wouldn't be where I'm at. He made me a much better player."

Asutin Burnette Broughton NC an early commit to Rutgers, "First God, then my parents for their support and the Garner Road family."

Raven Owen St. Joseph's Metuchen to Canisius, "Coach Chris Alesi from Xavierian, Coach Dave Turco, my father Raven Owen Sr., my mom Robin Owen, Coach Julius Allen from the Gauchos, Coach Rodriguez, Coach Nickles and Andrew Wisniewski."

Eric Carter Jackson Memorial to Delaware, "Coach Fagan, especially for everything he has done for me. My mom for being there and helping me out. And give a shout out to my boy Mike McKenzie. And Kenny Bradley."

Darian Anderson
St. John's College HS DC to FDU, "All my coaches in the past, my high school coaches, my AAU coaches. And my parents and my siblings."

Quadri Moore Linden to Cincinnati, "I would say my high school Coach Phil Colicchio. He has done a lot for me. Ed Bright and Brian Coleman with Sports U. Outside of basketball my mom and grandfather for doing so much for me and putting me in the right spot to be successful."

Alec Brennan Milton Academy MA to Princeton, "All my family, friends and coaches along the way. So many people helped me in so many ways."

Paul Jorgensen Don Bosco to George Washington, "Everyone from the New Heights family. My coaches at Don Bosco, Coach Diverio and Coach Moody, my parents and Chris Alesi too."

Wade Baldwin St. Joseph's Metuchen to Vanderbilt, "My high school Coach at Immaculata Mike Fraunheim, my parents. My coaches at St. Joe's, my coaches at Sports U, Brian Coleman and Ed Bright. My whole family. My uncle Greg Smith and Justin Razzano."

Cheddi Mosely St. Anthony to Boston U, "My parents, Coach Hurley, Coach Ed Bright with Sports U and Coach Jimmy [Salmon] with the Playaz."

Mike LeBlanc New Hampton MA Prep to Princeton, "My coach Pete Hutchins at New Hampton. Coach Vin Pastore at Mass Rivals and Coach Jay Elliott of the Rhode Island Hawks. And my family."

Eric Stafford Pitman to Lafayette, "my mom and dad, and my sister. They have been here the whole time. Coach Sagona and Coach Crawford. Coach Fisicaro had a lot of conversations with me and gave me great advice. He's been inside my circle of trust the whole time."

Devine Eke Union Catholic to FDU, "My friends, family and coaches and the entire Plainfield community."

Kenny Grant Hyde CT to Rider, "Coach [Ed] Bright, my mom, Coach Brian [Coleman] and the Sports U family."

Josh Williams South Kent CT Prep to Rider, "My high school coach, Coach Turco, and my teammates Steve Harris and Isaiah Johnson; the AD at school, my grandmother and my sister Mary."

Ismael Sanogo Newark East Side to Seton Hall, "I'd like to thank my teammates Jamar Gilbert, Abdul Lewis, Akbar Hoffman, Stephon McNair, Will Joyce, Ahmad Harrison and Yuron Hawkins, Anthony Tavares, John Thomason, Sandy Pyonin, Dan Sharpe and Troy Long."

Dwayne Foreman Massanutten Military Academy VA to Rutgers, "I'd like to thank my father, my mom, my advisor Mike Moore and my family. Mike Moore was a coach and advisor. My dad has always worked me out and taught me how to play. My mom has been an inspiration."

Jared Nickens Westtown PA to Maryland, "There's a lot of people. My parents, Ralston, Coach Chavannes, Rae Miller, Galen Smith, Seth Berger, Brian Coleman, Ed Bright, Jerry Austin, Juron Brooks. There's probably more."




NJ Hoops interviews all the NJ players that commit to Division 1 schools. Hopefully these interviews provide some insight into the entire recruiting process helping to educate other players and their families about the recruiting process.
