HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (September 14, 2012) - The Centenary College Athletic Department announced the hiring of Brendan Twomey as the new men's basketball head coach on Friday. As Associate Head Coach, Twomey was responsible for recruiting, practice planning, game preparation, and individual skill development while also serving as a building supervisor, physical education instructor, and intramural director along the way.
As the recruiting coordinator, Twomey helped bring in the team's leading scorer, Sheldon Jones, a Second-Team All-Conference selection in his sophomore year and First-Team All-Conference selection his junior year. This past season, Twomey helped lead Stevens to a 20-8 overall record and an ECAC semi-final appearance. Prior to working at Stevens, Twomey served as the Game Scout Video Coordinator for the NBA, analyzing and editing game film for the NBA, NBDL, and WNBA and was selected as one of two scouts to analyze the FIBA America's Championships for the United States men's basketball team.
Twomey also has experience working as the acting Sports Information Director and Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics for Mount Saint Mary College where he received a degree in business administration in 2004.
As a player, Twomey played professionally for Merry Monk Ballina and the Limerick Lions in the Irish Super League, as well as the Carolina Thunder in the American Basketball Association. During his time playing for Mount Saint Mary College, Twomey was named a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Regional All-Star, Division III News All-American Honorable Mention honoree, Skyline Conference Player of the Year, and two-time ECAC and Metro Writers Basketball Association selection.
Serving as a captain his junior and senior seasons, Twomey became the All-Time leading scorer at Mount Saint Mary College while finishing fifth All-Time in Division III in three pointers made (362) and 12th All-Time in three-pointers per game (3.32).
