Rutgers LB commit talks BC

Another Rutgers commitment took an official visit to Boston College this weekend just days after head coach Greg Schiano bolted for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This player, a linebacker, had some good things to say about BC and will be delaying his decision until after Signing Day now.

Saddle Brook, N.J. linebacker Steve Longa, ranked as the No. 33 outside linebacker in the country, took his official to The Heights this weekend.

"I had a good visit," said the 6-foot-1, 207-pounder. "I got to talk to coach McGovern and the head coach and they told me what vision they had for me at Boston College. I was hosted by Dominic Appiah and he was cool and I met a bunch of the players. I feel like I fit in well."

Longa went to BC with his parents and sister and everyone came away impressed.

"They all liked it," he said. "It was our first time being there so it was an impressive first impression. Now I just have to wait and figure some things out, but I won't be signing anyplace on Wednesday. I am going to take an official to Maryland next weekend and then probably make a decision after that. I'm still committed to Rutgers, but they don't have a coach yet so I need to see how that shakes out."

Longa said the BC coaches were up front and honest with him.

"They were real with me," he said. "I think I could come in and play early but there are three guys ahead of me at my position. I like how they told me that and made it a challenge to do my best and show what I can do. It's really all up to me if I go there."
