Two big North Jersey Catholic games are featured this weekend and there are a few South Jersey encounters featured this week.
DePaul (6-1) at St. Joe's (Montvale), Friday night. St. Joe's is #1 in the Parochial poll, while DePaul is #5. Joe's is in the third of a tough three game stretch of St. Peter's Prep, Paramus Catholic, and now DePaul. While they are banged up some from last week's game against PC, Joe's still has top players like quarterback Spencer Aukamp and tackle Tommy Hatton. The DePaul skill players are as good as anyone's, with WR Riley Clark and FB Stephen Speidel getting lost in the shuffle of talent.
Kingsway (5-1) at Camden (6-0), Friday night. Camden is #3 in the Groups 1-2 poll, while Kingsway is #11 in the Groups 3, 4, 5 poll. Camden has been a big surprise this year, outscoring opponents, 214-97. QB Khalil Williams has thrown 19 TD's to 3 interceptions thus far and the defense includes sophomore LB DyMelle Parker and senior 6-foot-4, 275 lb. DT Andrew Stevens. Kingsway features RB Ray Lawry and RB/DB Justin Morrison, while outscoring opponents this year, 227-78.
Northern Burlington (5-1) at Lawrence (6-0). Saturday afternoon. Lawrence is #18 in the Groups 3, 4, 5 poll, while Northern Burlington is #22. Lawrence has had plenty of offense, scoring 281 and allowing 94 this year. RB Semei Mitchell has been the playmaker on offense and LB Dan Rea is a mainstay on defense. Northern Burlington has outscored opponents, 144-59, with RB Kenyatta Greene and QB Tyler O'Dell being key players.
Hopewell Valley (7-0) at Burlington Township (5-1), Friday night. Hopewell Valley is #21, while Burlington Township is an honorable mention. Hopewell Valley is undefeated, scoring 224 and allowing 52. Top players include RB Andrew Yuska, WR Mike Gies, and LB Kyle Horihan. Burlington Township has outscored opponents 170-101. Leading the defense are linebackers Danny Hopkins and Kenny Alexandre.
Hasbrouck Heights (7-0) at Palisades Park/Leonia (7-0), Friday night. Hasbrouck Heights is #8 in the Groups 1, 2 poll, while Palisades Park/Leonia is an Honorable Mention in the Groups 3, 4, 5 poll. It was this time last year when Palisades Park/Leonia surprised people by beating Hasbrouck Heights. Having big years for them are DT Mike Hill, QB Adeyemi DaSilva, RB Taj Huggins, and WR Malik St. Hilaire. Opponents have been outscored, 253-90. Heights has the talents of QB Darren Iurato, RB Mike Incremona, and MLB Robert Klenk and the Aviators have outscored opponents,
Don Bosco (3-3) at Bergen Catholic (2-5) at Palisades Park, Saturday night. Don Bosco is #6 in the Parochial poll, while Bergen Catholic is Honorable Mention. While each team is not battling for division or state titles, this is still a top game. Bosco has been hit hard with injuries, but head coach Greg Toal can never be counted out of a game. Both teams have also had tough national schedules. Bergen's LB/DE Kurt Holuba has been outstanding this year, while DB Daivon Ellsion is a top defender for Bosco.
