October 24, 2013Paramus Catholic (5-1) at St. Joe's (Montvale), Saturday afternoon. St. Joe's is #1 in the Parochial poll, while Paramus Catholic is #3. This is a rematch of an exciting game from last year when Jabrill Peppers came out in the Wildcat for PC and ran wild, surprising St. Joe's. Rest assured, St. Joe's coach Tony Karcich has been burning the midnight oil this week, preparing for this game. For the Green Knights, Spencer Aukamp comes off a fabulous game passing against St. Peter's Prep and center James McNerney will lead the offensive line. For PC, Peppers has not been unleashed as often this year, with the ball being distributed more evenly. On defense, Terrance Harris will be one of many on defense who will be challenged to stop the Joe's machine.
Eastern (6-0) at Cherokee (4-1), Friday night. Eastern is #1 in Groups 3, 4, 5 poll and Cherokee is #6. Eastern seems to be a regular in this segment, the fourth time they've appeared and Cherokee isn't far behind. Eastern is averaging 40 points a game and their defense has posted two shutouts. They can win a shootout like they did against Timber Creek or win a low scoring game like they did against Williamstown. Cherokee is averaging 31 points a game and has allowed 26 points, also posting two shutouts.
Colts Neck (5-0) at Manalapan (5-0), Friday night. Manalapan is #2 in the Groups 3, 4, 5 poll and Colts Neck is #12. Two undefeated Shore Conference teams square off. Manalapan is averaging just under 40 points a game, while allowing only 35 points to date, including two shutouts. Colts Neck is averaging over 40 points a game, while allowing only 7 points on the year - four shutouts. Manalapan has been in a couple of big games, while this is Colts Neck's first big test.
Haddonfield (4-1) at West Deptford (5-0), Friday night. West Deptford is #1 in Groups 1 and 2 poll, while Haddonfield is #18. This game has been very competitive in each of the last three years and feature two top South Jersey small school programs. West Deptford is averaging over 50 points a game, while allowing 35 on the year, including two shutouts. Haddonfield averages over 30 points a game and have allowed only 38 points.
