March 15, 2013The Tournament of Champions semifinals are being contested tonight at Monmouth University.
In the first game, Non-Public A Champ and TOC #2 seed St. Joseph's Metuchen beat Group 4 champ and TOC #3 seed Atlantic City 63-49. It was close until the last quarter when the Falcons pulled away.
7-foot Kentucky bound Jr. Karl Towns tallied 24 points and 12 rebounds. He was 10-16 from the floor.
6-foot-4 Jr. Dennis White had 15 on 7-14 shooting for Atlantic City.
St. Joes had a 46-30 advantage on points in the paint and shot 49% from the floor and AC only 31%.
In the second game, the Non-Public B Champ and TOC #1 seed Roselle Catholic ran past Group 2 State Champion and TOC #5 seed Newark Tech 78-64. RC shot a blistering 63% in the first half and were off and running.
6-foot-6 So. Malachi Richardson had 21 points, burying 4-5 from three. 6-foot-4 Sr. Rakwan Kelly led Newark Tech with 19.
RC was 8-13 (62%) from three while Newark Tech was only 3-15 (20%).
Roselle Catholic plays St. Joseph's Tuesday for the title.
