February 3, 2013On Sunday morning we drove up to Tenafly High School for 3 Sweet 16 round games in the Bergen Jamboree. Bergen County has more high schools than any county in the state and the top 23 teams made the tournament.
In the first game 6th seeded St. Joseph's Montvale ran past 11th seeded Fort Lee 66-46. 6-foot-2 Jr. football star Ky Hester led the effort with 22 points. 5-foot-10 Jr. Josh Ford had 18 for Fort Lee.
In the second game 14th seeded Pascack Valley upset 3rd seeded Don 62-51. 6-foot Jr. Ryan Onderdonk led the balanced attack with 17 points. He made 7-8 free throws in the fourth quarter. 6-foot-3 Jr. Paul Jorgensen was high for Don Bosco with 19.
In the third game, 8th seeded Cresskill cruised past 9th seeded Ramapo 63-39 as 6-foot-2 Sr. Alex DeCandia dropped in 21. 6-foot-3 Jr. Matt Grassi notched 15 for Ramapo.
In the finale top seeded Teaneck versus 16th seeded Mahwah.
All four winners advance to the quarterfinals next Sunday at Ramapo College.
