January 13, 2013The second day of the inaugural Investors Scholarship Games is taking place Sunday at Kean University. A five game slate is on tap with teams from 5 different counties.
In the first game Hillsborough handled Westfield 57-47 as 6-foot-1 Sr. Jonathan Gregory hit for 23 points with 4 treys. 6-foot Sr. Keegan Hess and 5-foot-9 So. Danny Mitchell divided 22 for Westfield.
In the second game Bloomfield ran past Piscataway 66-32. 6-foot-2 Sr. Jameel Patterson put in 21 points, 19 in the first half. 6-foot-2 Jr. Clarence Hoover came off the bench to score 15 for the Chiefs.
In the middle game Union held off Roselle 55-49. 5-foot-11 Sr. Jaleel Chain had 21, 11 in the first quarter when the Farmers jumped out to a 16-6 advantage. 6-foot-3 Sr. had 16 for Roselle.
Linden held off Union Catholic 76-67 with 6-foot-8 Jr. Quadri Moore scoring 24. 5-foot-11 Sr. Damon Lynn dropped in 32 with 7 treys for UC. Lynn had 22 at intermission.
In the finale in a possible Hudson County Tournament semifinal preview, St. Peter's topped Marist 58-50. 6-foot St. Peter's University bound Sr. Trevis Wyche notched 26. 6-foot-10 Fordham bound Sr. Manny Suarez topped Marist with 19.
The Investors Scholarship Games are a fundraiser for scholarships to student-athletes, according to Rahway High School Athletic Director Tom Lewis, Executive Director of the UCIAC (Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference).
